Communication is key! If you need anything – you need to ask. We aim to provide you with
a comfortable and relaxing home base for a lekker visit to the South Coast
.
Gate – the gate is opened with the remote and needs to be closed using the remote once
you are inside or outside the property. It does not auto-close.
When there is load shedding the gate responds slower and moves slower. The battery
only lasts for a few operations after which it won't open or close.
If you get stuck during load shedding and need to go somewhere or come inside please
call / WhatsApp (0662346445) and we will put the gate on manual.
Parking – please park in carport assigned to your unit.
Beach sand – please do not wash it off in the shower.
Water – The South Coast (and other parts of SA) has a massive problem with municipal
water delivery and we do not always have supply. We have water tanks on the premises
to ensure we always have water. It is triple filtered and passes through a UV sterilisation
light and is perfectly safe to drink.
However, if there is load shedding our water supply from the tanks are off as well due to
the fact that it uses an electrical pump. You will see a 10 litre bottle in the bathroom if
you are desperate to flush.
There is also a 5 litre container of fresh water outside should you need some for
drinking/cooking or coffee during load shedding.
Please be water conscious and do not waste this precious resource.
Please report any leaking taps / toilets so it can be attended to. Your cooperation is
valued and greatly appreciated.
Gas – We have placed a gas bottle and gas kettle outside (in the black container behind
the couch) in the event that your morning cup of coffee is due and Eskom is denying you
the use of electricity. Please take care not to cause injury to yourself and others. Should
you run out of gas please notify us and we will go and have it refilled.
Lights – At least one globe in each room of the internal lamps contain a rechargeable
globe – these need to be put on for a few hours before load shedding in order to work
during load shedding. The bathroom main light is also rechargeable.
Doors – In order to securely lock and exit to go out you need to lock the sliding door
from inside and exit (and lock) the bedroom door. The sliding door only locks from the
inside. This is for safety and security reasons.
Kitchen – It is equipped with a fridge/freezer, microwave, kettle, induction cooker,
convection oven, toaster, toasted sandwich maker, crockery, cutlery and a dishwasher.
The manuals for the dishwasher, induction stove and convection oven are available in
the grass basket drawers if you have never used these before.
Please note – there is no hot water connected to the kitchen sink as we are in the
process of switching over to solar. We provided a dishwasher for your convenience in
the meantime :)You could always boil the kettle if you prefer to wash dishes by hand.
We have supplied you with one dishwasher “pod” or a container of granules for each day
of your visit (check under the sink). Please do not use normal Sunlight in the
dishwasher :)
***Please refrain from putting wet items back in the kitchen cupboard. Should you not
have enough time before your departure we will gladly take care of it.***
The day of departure – you are welcome to leave the last few dishes in the sink and the
beds unmade.
You are also welcome to leave uneaten/leftover food in the fridge – we will make sure it
goes to someone in need.
Garbage day – is on a Thursday. Please place your garbage bags outside the unit gate so
that we can collect it and take it out. We have provided you with replacement garbage
bags.
Bathroom / toilet – Thalassa's has a septic tank. Please do not flush sanitary items / ear
buds or any other foreign objects down the toilet.
Please do not take the bathroom towels to the beach.
For the towels/clothing to dry - we have screwed in little white cup hooks everywhere
outside for you to hang wet towels / clothing. The air is humid so we recommend you do
this.
Outside – you are most welcome to move the outside furniture / braai to where you
would like it, but please put it back where you found it when you are done :)
Patio umbrellas – please do not leave them “open/up” when you are not around or
during high winds.
Wi-Fi -
Wi-Fi name – ThalH1
Wifi password - 4565B3@ch
Smart TV – The TV is connected to the Wi-Fi and is logged into Netflix and Disney+.
Please use the “Thalassa” profile.
Monkeys – Please do not feed the monkeys. They are known to enter houses in search of
food once you do this. When they are around – close the doors. As far as possible do not
engage with them.
Dogs - There are dogs that reside here permanently. They have NO ACCESS to your unit.
They may however bark if they notice you :) This is not a big deal and we do not allow
them to bark continuously at our guests. They will soon get used to your presence and
ignore you.
